Apple, Pear and Cherry Compote Stove Top

Once again. So many posts, I have nothing to say.

This recipe is as most of mine are. Basic. And the base will be seeing another venture. Probably not soon. As I have tons of other ideas to get through. But in the future. It will.

Apple, Pear and Cherry Oatmeal

Ingredients:

1/2 Cup/40g Rolled Oats
1 Cup/240ml Liquid of choice, I use 2/3 almond milk 1/3 water
Pinch of Salt
1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
Optional: 1 Tsp Maple syrup or sweetener of choice

Optional: 2 TBSP Flaxseed

Compote:
1 Ripe Pear, sliced into wedges
1 Apple, chopped into chunks
1/2 Cup Applesauce, homemade or baby food, like I did
Big handful of dried cherries
1-2 Tsp Maple sweetener or honey, to taste

Method:

Compote:
Pour the applesauce into a saucepan and warm over a low heat. Add the pear, apple and maple syrup. Cover and simmer until the fruit is soft. Add the cherries and turn off heat. Warm it back up when you make the oats. You can store it in the fridge and use it for anything, over yogurt, ice cream or with cereal.

1. Bring your liquid to the boil, and the oats and salt and reduce to a simmer.
2. Once more liquid has absorbed add the vanilla and sweetener. Once it reaches a consistency you like transfer to a bowl and spoon over the compote. Enjoy!
